The /$schema property in report.json must be provided as a const
Power BIEvery PBIR file names the schema version it follows in $schema. Power BI Desktop accepts the versions it knows. A file that names another version is refused with this message.
How the message appears
Copied exactly from each source. A name in square brackets replaced one from someone else's project.
The /$schema property in report.json must be provided as a const.
In general form, with the parts that change in brackets:
The /$schema property in [file] must be provided as a const.
The fix
Open the project in a Power BI Desktop release that knows the version the file names. If you cannot update, set $schema back to a version your release knows, as in the quoted answer.
In report.json:
"$schema": "https://developer.microsoft.com/json-schemas/fabric/item/report/definition/report/1.1.0/schema.json""$schema": "https://developer.microsoft.com/json-schemas/fabric/item/report/definition/report/1.0.0/schema.json"What causes it
The file was saved by a newer release
In the quoted case the report was changed in the Power BI service workspace and pulled to a local repository through Git. The reply marked as the solution changed the schema version from 1.1.0 to 1.0.0.

The Report Doctor can't detect this, because which versions are accepted depends on the release of Power BI Desktop that opens the file, and the files do not say.
Worth knowing
- Setting a version back only works while the file uses nothing the newer version added. Check what changed in the file before you rely on it.
- The Report Doctor reports a
$schemaversion it does not have as a note, and checks every version it has.
Check a project in your browser
The Power BI Report Doctor reads a PBIP folder or .zip and lists the file and line to fix. Nothing is uploaded.
